Terror From The Sky
2nd Anniversary Sept. 11, 2003
THEN:
Written at 12:14 PM PDT on Sept. 11. 2001
Most of America woke up today to the reality that our
country has joined the long list of countries
throughout the world where major terrorist attacks have
occurred. The images were like scenes from the motion
picture "Independence Day". The events were totally
unbelievable that it could be happening in America.
It was a wake-up call for all Americans even
though we have had many warnings from the major
terrorist organizations around the world.
I remember discussing the possibility of a major
terrorist attack several years ago and the response was
that it will never happen here in the United States.
General Norman Schwarzkopf told Tom Brokaw of NBC News
today "Terrorism has come to our shores now, big time."
It is almost impossible to stop trained and fanatical
terrorists that are prepared to give their lives
in order to accomplish their mission. We have seen this
before with the truck bombing of the U. S. Marine
Headquarters in Beriut, Lebanon and the boat bombing of
the U.S.S. Cole in Aden, Yemen, just to name a couple.
America has always been a reactive society. We have had
several major bombings in this country and we have
instituted new anti-terrorist procedures but the biggest
question is why we allow terrorists to have safe haven in
Afganistan and conduct terrorist attacks against our embassies,
overseas military installations, and even U. S. warships and
are arrogant in their threats against the American people.
Now that they have struck a direct blow against the civilian
population in America, it is time to strike against them,
anywhere they are in the world, with the full might of the
Special Operations Command.
NOW:
Written on Sept. 11. 2002
Our nation has had several significant events that should not be
forgotten. For instance; December 6, 1941, "The Day of Infamy"
when Pearl Harbor was attacked; November 22, 1963, The day that
President John F. Kennedy was assassinated; and September 11,
2001, the day that terror fell from the sky.
Looking back over the last two years, there has been some very
positive actions accomplished by the free world. We took the
main sancutary away from terrorist organizations and removed a
very cruel totalitarian regime from power in Afghanistan. We
also removed a strong supportor of terrorist activities from
ruling Iraq.
We developed strong protective defenses for this country. We
must be doing it right because we have not had another major
attack against country since 9/11 but we will have to continue
with this fight until it is done or face the strong possibility
of having to endure attacks here in this country.
In Iraq and in Afghanistan the battle cry "Remember 9/11"
is the same as "Remember The Alamo" was during the
Mexican-American War. The international terrorist community is
in trouble financially and their leadership are running scared
because two years ago a sleeping tiger was rudely awaken. For
the safety of ourselves and the future generations, we must
not weaken in our resolve or the terrorists will win.
In January 2002, Sgt. 1st Class Nathan Ross Chapman,
an Army Special Forces Green Beret was the first U. S.
casuality of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Here is a story about his family today.

SPIRIT OF A NATION
I proudly wave across the land,
stately emblem in the breeze
A patriotic declaration
of a nation's liberty
White purity and innocence
Red hardiness and valor
Blue vigilance and justice
are preserved within my colors
Over hallowed halls of knowledge,
of government, of law
I stand watch over principles
to earn my nation's awe
And like the stars so proudly worn
upon my breast of blue
I transcend the bonds of earth
to stand majestic on the moon
Dauntless onto battlefields
I lead my country's brave
And with solemn dignity
escort the fallen to their graves
I serve as dressing for the wounds
of injured men and towers
Bestowing hope and solace
in my nation's darkest hours
When my loyal, revered servants'
last heartbeats come to pass
I join my mourning nation,
flying somberly half mast
Flames of hatred and dissension
may reduce my cloth to ash
Yet with the smoke my liberty
still rises unabashed
My strength lies not in stars or stripes,
in fabric nor in thread
But in the hearts of citizens
who hold my values sacred
For those who would destroy
America's noble decoration
Will come to find they shan't destroy
the spirit of a nation
